I love the contrast between the high ground and the valleys and never more so when there's been a light dusting of snow. We lived near the head of a valley and, at times, the snow never seemed to fall below a certain elevation.
There is a lot of evidence of washing off of paint in this scene that, I think, shows the textures perfectly.
