Barton upon Humber in North Lincolnshire was once a hive of industry with brick and tile makers and a ropeworks amongst others. The old clay workings are now mostly flooded and nature has moved back in but William Blyth's are still making roof tiles. I love old industrial sites and have painted many an old factory over the years. This scene I painted in pastel to stop myself from over complicating and was originally called The White Cap. Its owner didn't move once while we were watching!
